Frostburg State University’s Center for Creative Writing director, Gerard “Gerry” LaFemina is happy to announce the release and book signing of his new collection of poetry, Vanishing Horizon at Main Street Books of Frostburg on March 29, 2011 at 7:30 p.m.

LaFemina is the author of five previous collections of poetry, including Graffiti Heart (winner of the Anthony Piccione Prize in Poetry), The Window Facing Winter and The Para…keets of Brooklyn (winner of the Bordighera Prize); two collections of prose poems; and Wish List, a collection of short stories. His newest collection has been described as “full of gritty and graceful intelligence” (Tim Seibles, author of Buffalo Head Solos) and LaFemina recognizes it as “a bit different structurally from the others.”

Opening with a poem that “returns home,” Vanishing Horizons examines the vagabondness one experiences despite the achievement of the American dream: “So this quest for some sort of grounding even as the book moves geographically is central to the book. Hence its title,” Gerry expresses. “Main Street Books is always eager to host a reading with Gerry,” says bookstore owner, Fred Powell. “The audience can look forward to an exciting evening.”

Main Street Books is located at 2 E. Main St. in downtown Frostburg. For additional information call 301/689-5605 or e-mail
