Bayou Magazine

A young publication with an old soul, each issue of Bayou Magazine contains stunningly beautiful fiction, nonfiction and poetry.

Bellingham Review

Literature of palpable quality: poems, stories, and essays so beguiling they invite us to touch their essence. The Bellingham Review hungers for a kind of writing that nudges the limits of form, or executes traditional forms exquisitely.

Crab Orchard Review

Crab Orchard Review is a biannual journal of creative works published by the Department of English of Southern Illinois University Carbondale featuring new fiction, poetry, literary nonfiction, and book reviews of small press and university press titles.

New Letters

New Letters will continue to seek the best new writing, whether from established writers or from those just ready to be discovered; and it will support those writers, readers and, yes, listeners, who want to experience the joy of writing that both surprises and inspires us all.

Ninth Letter

Ninth Letter is a collaborative between the Creative Writing Program and the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois @Urbana-Champaign. Edited and designed by faculty and students as part of the core curricula of both programs, the journal’s mission is to present original literary writing of exceptional quality, illuminated by cutting-edge graphic design.

One Story

One Story is a non-profit literary magazine that features one great short story mailed to subscribers every three weeks. Our mission is to save the short story by publishing in a friendly format that allows readers to experience each story as a stand-alone work of art and a simple form of entertainment. One Story is designed to fit into your purse or pocket, and into your life.


Founded in 2006 by M. Bartley Seigel, [PANK] – PANK Magazine,, and the PANK Little Book Series – is a nonprofit literary arts collective committed to emerging literatures, its writers and its readers. In 2009, across platforms, PANK had more than 80,000 readers in 138 countries.

Prairie Schooner

Prairie Schooner is published in cooperation with the University of Nebraska Press and the Creative Writing Program of the University of Nebraska English Department. Members of the faculty of this program include Jonis Agee, Grace Bauer, Ted Kooser, Greg Kuzma, Amelia Maria de la Luz Montes, Hilda Raz, Gerald Shapiro, and Judith Slater. Published quarterly: March, June, September, December.

The River Teeth

River Teeth invites submissions of creative nonfiction, including narrative reportage, essays, and memoirs, as well as critical essays that examine the emerging genre and that explore the impact of nonfiction narrative on the lives of its writers, subjects, and readers.
